A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet Chef Giada de Laurentiis at her book signing in Chicago. If you have read past blogs of mine, you would know that I have an affinity for the culinary arts and an addiction to cook books. I have two other signed books from two of my other favorite chefs. This was to be the end of my cook book signings until I realized that Bobby Flay can really cook up a storm. So, the collection continues and I hope Bobby plans on stopping by the Windy City sometime soon. Above you'll see a few blurry pictures because no flash was allowed and below is a video of the people after me chatting with Giada. It was an awesome time waiting in line and she of course was very gracious and beautiful in person. She even said she liked my name. Oh yes, I almost forgot, all the old nonna's kept congratulating her on her 6 month old baby. It was funny!

Best Candles Ever
So while I couldn't officially be at ND last Saturday I was definitely there in spirit and in 2D! Instead, I made it to my niece's 4th birthday party which was a great time. My sister made a fondant castle cake and then, thanks to Domo and her Aunt...I headed to Chicago to buy the candles for the best firework display on a cake ever! It was a success and everybody was amazed. The party was great, but I think I had the hardest time waiting to light the cake. I am a fan of fire and tending to it. Here is a little video of my pyrotechnic skills. P.S. I think I am going to open my own "Ace of Cakes" shop...anybody wanna hire :)
